Amazing Grace how sweet the sound
The song we sang that day
And as I heard those holy words
My sins were washed away.
No pew could hold my body down
As I slipped into the aisle
As the preacher quickly took my hand
I met him with a smile.
At the Altar kneeling low
My burdens I lay down
My sobbing, and my beating heart
Became my only sound.
As I rose back to my feet
I knew I had been saved
Born again, changed they said
No longer satans slave.
No words could ever tell it all
No person could explain
How something that you cannot see
could bring on such a change.
Will you be free from the burdens of sin
I ask myself right then
And to my surprise and others too
My savior took me in.
New things my eyes begin to see
I had no time to spare
And now I know one thing for sure
When the roll is called up yonder I'll be there.
