Mirtie
Life was never dull,
when Mirtie was around
A little laugh, a little dance
Or a gospel song would sound.

Some say she was never happy
But I know they were wrong.
I have seen the joy in her eyes
as she sang those old, old songs.

Her life was never hindered
as some lives seem to be
when life got rough, she escaped
into a world where she was free.

I'f we could ask her why she died
I know what she would say
My Savour needs me worse than you
and so I went away.

Her children and her grandkids
were the things she cherished most
I'm sure she'll save a place for them
Up there among the heavenly hosts.

Mirtie will never be dead to me
she has only gone away
she has been relieved of her duties here
to make a home for us someday.
