Christmas
Dear Jesus it's almost
your birthday again
there will be much rejoicing
also much sin.

There will be men drinking whisky
beer and red wine
forgive them sweet Jesus
just one more time.

Help us poor sinners lord
to get down on our knees
to praise you for life God
to help us to believe.

I remember the tree
from which you look down
and our sins were forgiven
by the blood of the Lamb.

You did not complain
as you died on that tree
oh my dear Jesus
look what you did for me.

All I could ever give you Lord
would not make a dent
in that great wall of heartaches
through which you went.

Help us remember on Christmas day
these things and much,much more
all  we have to do is knock you said
you'd open wide the door.

If I could write poetry Lord
the rest of my days
I'd like to write it in your name
and turn it into praise

So thank you for letting me
write each little line
If it helps anyone to see the light
it's worth much more than all my time.
